Hey folks! I stumbled across this solar oven online that looks really sleek... folds up like a suitcase and supposedly reaches 400°F. The reviews are decent, but it’s around $250 😱 I like the idea of cooking with zero fuel and no smoke, but I can’t tell if this is a smart buy or just an expensive experiment I’ll use twice and forget about.
Has anyone here actually used one?

That's amazing! I built one many years ago in science class. Do you have a link to the one you have? I live in a very sunny and hot climate. I would love to try it out/

I’ve been using a solar oven for about two years (different brand, similar design). Honestly, I love it for what it is. It’s not a full-time cooking replacement. More like a fun, sustainable bonus.
It works great for slow-cooking stuff like stews, rice, and baked potatoes, but you need patience and good sunlight. That said, mine’s paid for itself because I don’t use propane nearly as much now, and I camp a lot. If you enjoy experimenting outdoors, it’s worth it. If you just want convenience, probably not.
